Teresa Norton

From actor, director, playwright  to radio personality and voiceover talent, weekly newspaper columnist to leadership coach, chanteuse to podcaster - my hopscotch career has taken me to wonderful locations and amazing friendships.


I now embark on a new adventure;  having moved, after 40 glorious years in Hong Kong into my new home in Lisboa, Portugal.  After my first year I was  gifted with delightful friends, a beautiful new country to explore and, while I continue coaching leaders, an opportunity to dig back into my purely creative roots and resurrect my radio career as a podcaster.

Adrian Brown

Born in Britain, educated in Paris; Adrian's lived and worked in London, Hong Kong,

Sydney and Beijing. He' s a Contributor Correspondent for both Al Jazeera and 101 East and was Senior Correspondent in Beijing to help re-establish Al Jazeera’s English Broadcast presence in China, covering health emergencies,

earthquakes, industrial disasters, political and social tensions as well as key

anniversaries.


Before his time in China, Adrian covered many of the defining moments in recent Asian history. Although he has reported globally, his area of expertise is Asia: its people, politics, economies, and development.


Adrian's covered war, revolution, political turmoil and natural disasters in the following countries : Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, the Gaza Strip, Israel, Eygpt, Libya, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Indonesia,East Timor, China, Hong Kong, and Malaysia,Japan, Indonesia, Haiti, India, China, and Myanmar.

Beth Blatt

Beth's musicals, plays and songs have been performed at the United Nations, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, in New York City, across the US, and in Asia and Europe. 

 

She is now creating pieces inspired by what she calls “Forgotten Women of France”, and is currently showcasing her new musical about an American 19th century utopian society, "Oneida", with performances scheduled in London this year.

 

She’s also the founder of Hope Sings, which creates original songs inspired by success stories from different women-focused organizations. One such song was the anthem for UN Women, the first anthem created for a UN agency..

 

Beth received her musical theater training at the prestigious BMI Musical Theatre Workshop and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Dartmouth College.

David McKirdy

David McKirdy arrived in Hong Kong by ship as a 4 year old in 1960.  Since then he has navigated quite the career path!


 - 5 time HK Moto Cross champion, representing  Hong Kong at The Motocross de Nations in Maggiore, Italy in 1986


  -Formula 1 mechanic for McLaren during early 20's in London


 - Became a full-time musician for over ten years, representing Hong Kong with his band, Crash, at the Midem Festival.


-  Published poet with two collections of poetry, 'Accidental Occidental' and 'Ancestral Worship'


-  Board member of the HK International Literature Festival 


- Currently he repairs ancient automobiles for a living, the oldest being a 1904 Cadilac.


"I am a big Norton fan, currently owning three Norton Commando motorcycles and privileged to be friends with Teresa Norton!"

Emily Lau

Born and raised in Hong Kong, in 1976 Emily Lau her degree in Broadcast Journalism from University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. 


Back in Hong Kong as a reporter for the South China Morning Post, she then worked in television journalism at Television Broadcast TVB. 


In the early 80's she studied at the London School of Economics, and was an assistant producer at the BBC, while working as London correspondent for Hong Kong TVB News.


Returning to Hong Kong in 1984, Emily was a correspondent for the Far Eastern Economic Review.  In 1987 she took a position in the  Journalism and Communication Department of the Chinese University Hong Kong and after that at the Extra-Mural Department of the University of Hong Kong.


Emily Lau was the first woman directly elected to  Hong Kong's Legislative Council (1998 - 2016), and was Chair of the Democratic Party (2012 - 2016).

Henk van der Steen

Dutch national Henk van der Steen is an improviser both on and off the theater stage. 


Since 1998 he's co-run Troje, a small Dutch training and consulting company that’s all about applied improvisation, because "We believe that the world will be a better place if more people are able, allowed and dare to improvise." 


Troje work for the public sector, mostly government, education and healthcare in The Netherlands. 


Henk is married to  thelove of his life for 25 years, is a proud father of three children, rides a mountain bike in the extremely flat Netherlands a few times a week, and loves to cook and visit the theatre.

James Osborn

James Osborn is a licensed therapist and coach. As a former international hockey player with a Sports Psychology Masters, former athlete mentor and manager in the corporate world and now a trained therapist James works 1-2-1 and with teams. 


James is incredibly passionate about leadership, team dynamics and how group cultures influence individual performance and wellbeing. 


He's a big advocate for the idea that great friendships are some of the best protections against poor mental health and talks a lot about the idea that hard-earned self-belief is vital to live a confident, compassionate and courageous life and to having the ability to approach the unknown as something exciting, rather than scary."

John Dykes

John Dykes is a globally-recognised sports broadcaster, who has presented and commentated on FIFA World Cups, the Olympics, tennis Grand Slams,  golf Majors, F1, the Premier League and much more. 


He is also an in-demand event host, panel moderator, speaker and coach who offers insights into media skills, leadership, winning habits and peak performance – all gleaned from a 30-year career spent covering the biggest games and names in the business.

 

John is a keen sportsman and a student of health and wellness. Having spent 40 years in Asia, he is a Singaporean citizen and lives there with his wife and two daughters.

John Langford

Born in New Orleans, John Langford grew up in Hong Kong where his parents were missionaries. After finishing high school, he went to university in the States,  graduating with a bachelor’s degree in communication.


Returning to Hong Kong in his mid-20’s, he began his career as a professional photographer. His previous incarnations include offshore oil-rig roustabout, radio D.J., television news reporter, pizza delivery guy and funeral home attendant. He now resides in Austin, Texas where he runs a busy commercial photography studio, and has created images for Dell, Nike, Sony, 3M and Whole Foods.

Staci Ford

Staci Ford is Affiliated Associate Lecturer, Faculty of Arts, teaching  History, American Studies, and Gender Studies at the University of Hong Kong.  She researches and writes on the intersections of gender, generation, and leadership in Asia/Asian Diasporic contexts. 


Author of "Troubling American Women", a lively and provocative study of cross-cultural encounters, shedding light on the connections between the histories of Hong Kong and the US. Teresa is featured in the chapter titled "Home for the Handover".


Staci's current book project is about late 20th/early 21st century leadership viewed through the lens of popular culture produced by or featuring Asian/Asian Diasporic men.

Tim Peirson Smith

Tim Peirson-Smith is a self-proclaimed lapsed Brit and former environmental research scientist. He has been proud to call Hong Kong home for the last 35 years. 


For the last quarter century, after founding Executive Counsel Limited, a strategic communications advisory he has been advising the corporate world on government relations and the public and private sector on public relations, crisis management, stakeholder management and corporate governance. 


However, he is, by far, most proud to be the father of three exceptional humans: Ben, Milly and Issy - two of whom are already off the payroll and Issy is completing her masters. Tim is a keen daily sea swimmer, hiker and an atypical birdwatcher and recently married the lovely Eileen Elizabeth.

Vaudine England

VAUDINE ENGLAND was a journalist for three decades in South East Asia and Hong Kong for the BBC, Reuters, the Far Eastern Economic Review and several London newspapers. Born in New Zealand, she has lived and worked in Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Britain and Hong Kong. Then she discovered the joys of history, and has made a specialty of investigative work into the past with the help of archives, oral history and a nose for a good story. 

 

She has authored several books about individuals, institutions and family companies in Hong Kong.  Her history of Hong Kong’s formative first century, focused on the multiple peoples who came to build Asia’s last port city — Fortune’s Bazaar, The Making of Hong Kong — was published in May 2023. 


Now based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, she is completing a PhD in Asian history at Leiden University.
